    Internet Blackjack Tournaments

Blackjack tournaments are a fun way to enjoy the game of blackjack. In your traditional blackjack games, each player individually competes against the dealer. In blackjack tournaments, however, the successes of other players in the tournament matter. In tournament blackjack play, keeping up with “the Joneses” is of paramount importance, as the blackjack tournament is won when a single player remains. Thus, it is important that tournament players out earn and outlast their opposition.

Blackjack tournaments can be played on the Internet or in live casino venues and these tournaments can encompass numerous blackjack tables, or they can be played on a single blackjack table. The blackjack tournament has a buy-in or set fee that is charged to each player, and the tournament players all start with the same amount of money. This differs from standard casino blackjack games in that players can buy-in for amounts of their choosing, providing it is within the table limits.

Another key difference in tournament blackjack play is that the action does not start with first base every time. The “deal” is passed from one player to the next in blackjack tournaments. The “deal” moves around the table in a clockwise fashion so that each player rotates through the “first base” position, as well as the third base position. This rotation process is important to the blackjack tournament, as players take turns acting before and after one another. In blackjack tournaments, it is advantageous to know the amount of money your opponents are betting, as well as how their hand turned out. Thus, rotating the “dealer” gives each person the chance to see their opposition bet and play before they have to act.

While the fixed buy-in and rotating of “dealers” are some of the ways that tournament blackjack rules differs from standard casino blackjack rules, there are some similarities. In both traditional blackjack and tournament blackjack games, the blackjack hands play out against the house dealer. In blackjack tournaments, each player competes against the house dealer to have the better hand, without exceeding 21. If the player’s hand is greater than that of the dealer’s without exceeding 21, the player is paid. If the dealer busts and the player has not previously busted in that round, the player is paid. If the dealer’s hand amounts to more than the player’s hand (without busting), or if the player busts, the player loses their wager.
